Father’s Day Sonnet

O, dearest Dad, how kind you were to me,

In blessing me with so much of your time,

Instilling your great curiosity

And love of life, and all things beautiful.
When our bathroom filled with winged moths

And spiders, made my tender heart afraid,

You taught me to approach with confidence,

And see all things as new discoveries.
For wisdom shared, and stories oft invented

When at bed time on the spot you’d be,

You always wove a yarn so fully rounded,

Made me feel safe, when bad dreams robbed my sleep.
And now I have young children of my own,

I’m doubly grateful fo’all the love you’ve shown.
